SARAH IRENE TURLEY

TREMONTON – Sarah Irene Means Norr Turley, 81, died January 27, 1987 in the Box Elder County Nursing Home in Tremonton of causes incident to age.

She was born May 17, 1905 in Salt Lake City, UT, a daughter of Ira Oscar and Mary Katrina Hemmingsen Means.

She married Francis Reynolds Norr November 23, 1921 in Salt Lake City. The marriage was later solemnized in the Mesa, AZ LDS Temple, January 12, 1952. He died Dec. 3, 1959. She then married Aubrey Franklin Turley January 6, 1961 in the Logan LDS Temple.

She had lived in Salt Lake City where she was educated. She lived most of her life in Blue Creek, Pocatello Valley, where she and her husbands owned and operated dry farms. She also lived in Tremonton, Logan and Mesa, AZ.

She was a member of the Tremonton Nursing Home Branch, serving in the past as a member of the Relief Society and also Relief Society visiting teacher for many years. She was also a Primary and Sunday School teacher.

Surviving are her husband of Tremonton, one son and four daughters: Francis M. (Buss) Norr and Mrs. Harry C. (Maxine) Furphy, both of Scotsdale, AZ; Mrs. Andrew J. (Elaine) Horshock from Sun Lakes, AZ; Mrs. Gloria N. Uibel, Brigham City, UT; Mrs. Fred J. (Laura) Selman, Tremonton; three stepsons and two stepdaughters, Mrs. Nick (Marjorie) Cavaulas, Alliquippa, PA; Harlan B. Turley, Bountiful, UT; Lowell Reese Turley, Royal City, WA; Max W. Turley, Maple Grove, MN; Mrs. Gerald (Judy) Craigun, Manassas, VA; 43 grandchildren and 67 great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Henry “Pete” (Marie) Peterson, Burley, ID

Funeral services were held Saturday at the Tremonton Stake Center with Branch President Lee W. Hunsaker officiating. Burial was in the Logan City Cemetery.
