Ruth Genevieve Castleton Davis (Birth 3 Aug 1896/Death 01 Mar 1975)

MALAD, Idaho — Mrs. Ruth Castleton Davis, 78, of Malad, died Saturday in the Oneida County Hospital of a long illness.

Mrs. Davis was born Aug. 3, 1896, in Salt Lake City, a daughter of Arthur Robert and Ellen Wooley Castleton.

She was married to Hyrum LeRoy Davis on April 30, 1918, in Malad. The marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on Jan. 30, 1920. Mr. Davis died May 9, 1969.

She was educated in Beaver Dam, Utah, and Malad schools.
An active member of the LDS Church, she served as organist in the Primary, Sunday School and Relief Society, and was a Relief Society president and visiting teacher. She was a charter member of World War I Auxiliary in Malad, member of the War Mothers and Native Daughters of Idaho Pioneers.

Surviving are three sons and three daughters, H. LeRoy Davis, Richard J. Davis, both of Oceanside, Calif.; Arthur C. Davis, Boise, Idaho; Mrs. Ivan (Cleo) Schwartz, Malad; Mrs. Don (Gloria) Johnson, Lake Stevens, Wash.; Mrs. Stan (Ruby) Jones, Springfield, Ore.; 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are five brothers and one sister, Arthur R. Castleton, Salt Lake City; Harold J. Castleton, Logan; Melvin E. Castleton, Tremonton; Leonard S. Castleton, Montpelier, Idaho; Leon J. Castleton, Mrs. Ruby Flatin, both of Malad.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 12 noon in the Malad 3rd Ward Chapel.

Friends may call at the Benson Funeral Home Tuesday evening and Wednesday prior to services. Burial in the Malad City Cemetery.
