ROYAL HALFORD, PORTAGE, DIES AT MALAD MONDAY
Royal Halford, 78, Portage, died Monday night at the Oneida Hospital of a heart ailment.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at the Portage LDS Ward and friends and relatives may call at the family home in Portage Thursday evening and Friday prior to the services which are under the direction of the Benson Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Portage Cemetery.
Mr. Halford was born March 16, 1886 at portage, a son of Joseph Henry and Emma Hoskins Halford. He married Erma Evelyn Conley, October 30, 1907. A farmer and rancher, Mr. Halford was a member of the LDS Church and fulfilled a two-year mission for the Malad Stake. He was first and second counselor in the Portage Ward bishopric from 1946 to 1961.
Surviving are his widow; sons, daughters, Royal Euvene, Mrs. Wendell (Fern) Hall, Mrs. Harold (Roxie) Jenkins, all of Portage; Glen H., San Francisco; Faun, Sacramento, Calif.; Woodrow N., Magna; Victor C., Preston; 16 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters, Melvin Theodore, Ogden; Mrs. Lizzie H. Hale, Pocatello; Joseph W. Halford, Mrs. Roy (Pearl) Hawks, Mrs. Grace H. John, all of Portage.
