R. V. Daniels dies at Malad
Rolla V. Daniels, 90, Malad, died Monday evening (Sept 1981) in the Oneida County Hospital.
He was born Jan. 3, 1891, in Payson, Utah, to Orson A. and Susan C. Crandall Daniels. He grew up and attended school in Payson and later graduated from the College of Pharmacy at San Francisco. He worked at a pharmacy in Park City, Utah, for a short time before moving to Malad. He married Grace Wass May 8, 1915, in Malad. Later that year they moved to Garland, Utah, where he was employed at a drug store. In 1920, he bought a drug store in Malad, a business which he operated until his retirement in 1961.
He earned a pilot’s license at age 50 and flew until he was 78. He enjoyed photography and was an excellent marksman. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge and was active on the Oneida County School Board.
Survivors include his widow, Malad; one son and two daughters: Ralph V. Daniels, Payson, Utah; Mrs. Kenneth (Doris) Beeby, Tempe, Ariz., and Mrs. Thomas (Helen) Edmark, Caldwell; two sisters, Mrs. Elmer (Verna) Cloward, Provo, Utah, and Mrs. Bertie Smith, Payson, Utah; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Thursday, Sept. 3, at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home in Malad with Rev. Norman Naugler officiating. Burial was in the Malad City Cemetery.
