WILLIAMS, ROBERT E., JR., February 20, 1921 – March 11, 2008

JEROME – Robert E. Williams, Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away March 11, 2008 at the age of 87 after a long, exceptional life. Bob was born February 20, 1921 in Malad City, Idaho to Annie and Robert Williams.

Bob married Fae Nielson on May 9, 1943, after meeting her at Albion State Normal School, where he excelled in football and basketball and obtained his teaching certificate. He taught school for one year in Rockland before entering the Army Air Corps, where he served during World War II in Italy and Africa and was awarded five battle stars.

After the war, he received a bachelor of science degree in biology from the College of Idaho and then attended the University of Oregon Dental School, where he graduated in 1952 with a doctorate in medical dentistry. He practiced dentistry in Jerome for 42 years, where he was active in Jaycees, Rotary and the Chamber of Commerce. He also served on the school board and in many capacities as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including the bishop of the Jerome 2nd Ward.

Bob was an avid supporter of Jerome High School sports and community activities, and he and Fae attended every event possible. He also loved raising dahlias, cattle and his children and grandchildren. He was a hard working, devoted, energetic, caring man and will be greatly missed by his many friends and family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Fae; and his children, Rob (Susan), Pat (Linda), Nancy (Patrick), and Jeff; as well as 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He also survived by one sister, Joyce Scott of North Ogden, Utah.

He was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings.

The funeral service will be held march 15 at the Jerome LDS Stake Center, Jerome, Idaho with Bishop Blaine Hope officiating. Interment will follow in the Jerome Cemetery.
