OWENS, ROBERT DAVID – December 17, 1935 – August 27, 2003

WEST POINT – Robert “Bob” David Owens, 67, our beloved father, brother, husband, grandfather and friend passed away peacefully at his home on August 28, 2003.

He was born in Pocatello, Idaho on December 17, 1935 to Richard T. and Mildred Hall Owens. He grew up in Layton, then moved to Ogden as a teenager and graduated from Ogden High. He married the love of his life and life-long companion, Joyce Whetton, on December 17, 1953. They were always together and were truly best friends and soul mates.

Bob’s greatest love was his family. He enjoyed having them over for a BBQ and croquet game as much as anything in this world.

His yard was a place of joy for him; he kept it picture perfect and you could usually find him under a tree with his Westies, Clyde and C.J. by his side, or working a crossword puzzle. He also loved watching Austin and Shad play sports.

Bob worked for Westinghouse Electric and the Ogden City Fire Department as a fire fighter and fire inspector enjoying many lastin relationships.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the West Point 8th Ward.

Those who knew Bob understood the depth of his loyalty, integrity and generosity. He was the most kind-hearted person you could ever meet.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce of 49 years, and their children: David (Sue) Owens, Eden, Utah; Shelly (Mike) Anderson, West Point, and a brother R. Gary (Marianne)Owens, S. Ogden. Grandchildren: Shad, Sierra, Austin, Andrea, Bret, Casey, Kim and Jaime, and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Mother and Father.
