Funeral Wednesday For Bob Stratton

Funeral services were held Wednesday for Robert Cole Stratton, 61, who died Sunday after an extended illness.

Mr. Stratton was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He was a former member of American Legion, Ernest Jones Post, of Malad.

He was born Nov. 28, 1894, in Oneonta, N. Y., a son of Herbert and Lucy Jane Cole Stratton. He was reared and educated in Gilsbertsville, N. Y. He had resided in Oneida County, Idaho, for 35 years.

On August 19, 1922, he married Sylvia Thomas in Malad.

Surviving are his widow, Malad; one son and daughter, Robert T. Stratton, Ogden; and Mrs. Mace Johnson, Salt Lake City; four grandchildren; one brother and two sisters, William H. Stratton, Santa Fe, N. M.; Mrs. Emma Thomas, Fort Plain, N. Y., and Mrs. William Gise, Yoakum, Texas.

Bishop Colen H. Sweeten Jr. officiated at the services. Prayer at the home was offered by C. H. Sweeten Sr. and A. G. Willie gave the invocation. The benediction was offered by George Lewis. Raiford G. Benson offered the dedicatory prayer.

Bishop Sweeten gave the obituary and Dr. Thomas W. Richards was the speaker. Musical numbers included a vocal duet by Guy and Nellie Gleed, a vocal solo by Jenkin Palmer and a violin solo by Fern Willie.

Military rites were performed by American Legion, Ernest W. Jones Post No. 65.

Pallbearers were Henry W. Thomas, William W. Thomas, Uana H. Conley, Miles Larsen, Henry T. Jones and Robert Smith.

Interment was in the Malad Cemetery under the direction of the Benson Funeral Home.
