Richard LaVon Thomas, age 93, died on November 29, 2010 from natural causes incident to age. Richard (Dick) was born in Malad, Idaho on November 13, 1917 to Richard Lawrence and Eliza Alice Barnett Thomas
He married Alta Eve Whitt in 1937; they later divorced. He married his eternal partner, Katherine (Kay) Ferne Porter in 1950.
Dick was a Veteran on the US Army. He also served faithfully in many LDS church callings, including serving 23 years as a temple worker at the Jordan River Temple.
Dick is survived by his five children: Dixie Jenson( Gary); Allan Thomas (Diane); Carol Lowman (Dan); Barbara Culligan (Rick); and Linda Ames (Arlo); 16 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his wife, Kay; by both of his parents; his brother, Lawrence; his sister, Blanche Lance; and one grandson, Robbie Jenson. Special thanks to the staff of Beehive Homes of Draper and Hearts for Hospice for their compassionate care.
Funeral services will be Friday, December 3, 2010 at 2:00 pm. At the Murray Hillcrest LDS Ward located at 432 E. 5600 S. Viewings will be Thursday, December 2, 2010 from 6:30-8:00 at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State Street, and Friday one h our prior to funeral services at the church.
