Richard J. Evans

EVANS, RICHARD J., November 25, 1887 – June 26, 1965

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 30 at the Malad First Ward LDS Chapel for Richard J. Evans, 77, who died Friday of a long illness in a Pocatello nursing home. Bishop Conrad Alder officiated at the services.

At the funeral home, family prayer was offered by Thomas D. Evans and at the chapel, prelude and postlude music was by Emma S. Ward; invocation, Jas. B. Jones; obituary and remarks, Bishop Alder; vocal, Ardis Jones; talk, William H. Rutter; vocal, Natrone, Clarice and Shauna Ward; talk, G. Howard Neal; benediction, D. Dredge Thomas. Accompanists were Emma S. Ward and Trudy Ward.

Concluding rites were at the Malad City Cemetery where F. Mitchell Deschamps offered the dedicatory prayer. Flowers were under the direction of the First Ward Relief Society. Casket bearers were Blair Thorpe, Welton Ward, Richard Rice, Odell Rice, Clayne Jensen, Thurman Thorpe.

Mr. Evans was born November 25, 1887 at malad, a son of Benjamin D. and Mary Jane Jones Evans. He married Rachel Jones, April 5, 1911 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.

Mr. Evans was a former Malad Justice of the Peace, farmer and trucker. He was a member of the LDS Church.

Survivors include his widow, Malad; one daughter, Mrs. Harvey A. (Melba) Jensen, Malad; two foster children, Dale Speed, Leandro, CA; Mrs. Bernell (Orva) Dallan, Los Angeles, CA; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren; two brothers and one sister: Thos. D. Evans, Heber J. Evans, Mrs. Edgar (Blodwin) Thorpe, all of Malad.
