Reed Westwood Moon

REED W. MOON
Reed Westwood Moon, 74, died December 30, 2000, at his home in Idaho Falls. He was born December 19, 1926, to Joseph Helaman and Louise Westwood Moon in Malad, Idaho. He grew up in Cherry Creek, Idaho, farming with his family.

He served honorably in the Air Force during World War II.

He married Gloria June Ekstrom on August 8, 1949. They had four children. Reed worked out of Ashton, Idaho, logging and driving trucks. They were divorced.

Reed married Carol Buckalew on February 14, 1961. They lived in Santa Barbara, California. Reed was employed by the Cachuma Operation and Maintenance Board for twenty three years. Together they raised Carol’s son Rick.

Upon retirement they moved to Cave Junction, Oregon. Where they lived until Carrol died in 1998.

Reed is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He has always enjoyed fishing and hunting. His dogs and his horses were some of his best friends.

Reed has spent the last two years in Idaho Falls to be close to family.

Survivors include his step son, Rick Buckalew; four children: Emma Louise (Donald) Goerg; Charles Reed (Claire) Moon; Joseph Lee (Mary) Moon; and Sylvia (Jerry) Myers; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, two brothers, Dale and Norman and a sister, Ruth.

Graveside services were held at the Malad City Cemetery in Malad, on Tuesday, January 2, 2000.
