RAYMOND PEARSON

IDAHO FALLS — Raymond Walfred Pearson, 76, of Idaho Falls and former Pocatello resident, died Monday, Oct. 23, [1989] at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of congestive heart failure.

He was born Oct. 12, 1913 at Omaha, Neb.[sic] to Herman A. and Mayme[sic] C. Solberg[sic] Pearson. He lived in Omaha for nine years where he attended grade school, and then moved to Pocatello, living in the community for 14 years and attending Roosevelt Elementary, Pocatello High School, and the University of Idaho, Southern Branch. He also attended the University of Idaho in Moscow.

Mr. Pearson lived four years in Hollywood, Calif.[sic] and then in Idaho
Falls for the past 41 years.

He married Helen Petty Sept. 1, 1939 at Swan Lake.

He was a professional musician and worked for Westinghouse Corporation at the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory.

He was a member of the U.S. Navy Band in Farragut, and Bremerton, Wash.[sic] He was a member of the “Sterling Young Band,” a 15-piece group playing engagements at hotels in Las Vegas and the Aragonne[sic] Ballroom at Santa Monica, Calif.[sic]; he traveled the West coast playing in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco and San Diego, Calif.[sic]

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, one son, Glade Pearson, and a daughter, Debra McGrath, all of Idaho Falls, and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother and parents.

Funeral services will be Friday, 1 p.m. at the Wood Chapel of the Pines in Idaho Falls, with the Rev. Kenneth Winter officiating. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to services at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge in Idaho Falls. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Idaho Falls.
