Ray Russell

NAMPA – Ray L. Russell, 81, formerly of the Pocatello area, died Thursday, March 14, [1985] at a Nampa hospital.

He was born September 9, 1903, at Lane County, Kansas, to Elias and Martha Russell. In 1917 he moved with his family to Twin Falls where he was reared and educated.

He later attended barber college in Portland, Oregon, and returned to Twin Falls where he started barbering.

He married Erma “Betty” Hazel on December 24, 1928, in Twin Falls. He moved to Pocatello in 1933, and in 1935 they moved to Lava Hot Springs. They moved to Nampa in 1951 where he owned and operated Russell’s Barber Shop until his retirement in 1965.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife of Nampa; a son, Wayne, Nampa; a sister, Esther Wise, Twin Falls; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, five sisters, and three brothers.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 18, at the Alsip Funeral Chapel in Nampa. Burial was in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Caldwell.
