Ray Alan Wight, (1938)

WIGHT, RAY ALAN, August 11, 1938 – July 14, 2004

Ray Alan Wight died in Portland, Oregon on July 14, 2004. He was born August 11, 1938 in Malad, Idaho to W. Ray and Velma Smith Wight. He graduated from Ogden High School and attended Weber College. He attended the U of U and graduated from the U of U Law School with honors. He moved to Portland in 1965, and worked in corporate law as a partner in Miller-Nash Law Firm until three years ago when he became an assistant attorney general for the State of Oregon.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission to Sweden from August, 1958 – March 1961. Among other callings recently served in the High Priests group leadership.

Alan married Ingrid Wallgren June 27, 1962. They were later divorced. They had five children: Christine, Stephen, Camille, Thomas and lars. He married Carole Madden in 1994.

He is survived by his five children and 14 grandchildren. He is also survivied by his wife Carole and stepson, Chris Scholer and stepdaughter, Tracy and four step grandchildren; brothers, Keith, Richard and Gerald, sister: LeNae Edgell and Verlene (Sue) Lund.

Alan loved music and was an accomplished musician. In his youth he had a dance band. He was a member of the Beaverton, Oregon Community Band. He played several instruments including paino, clarinet, saxophone and guitar.

A funeral was held in the Columbia River Ward in Portland on July 16, 2004. Interment, Brigham City Cemetery.
