Mrs. Fred M. Ray Dies At Pocatello

Mrs. Rachel Jones Ray, widow of Dr. F. M. Ray, died Monday [September 21, 1964] at Bannock Memorial Hospital in Pocatello after an illness of several months. She was 80 years old.

A native of Malad, Mrs. Ray had lived in Pocatello since 1913 except for a short time in Europe and in Portland, Oregon. She was a member of the Congregational Church, the PEO Sisterhood and Ruth Chapter 3, Order of Eastern Star.

Mrs. Ray was born in Malad on May 12, 1884, a daughter of William Hugh and Mary Daniels Jones. She was married to Dr. Ray in Malad on June 1, 1910. They moved to Pocatello three years later.

Surviving are a son, Dr. Ralph M. Ray, Portland; a daughter, Mrs. Stanley J. Madden, San Francisco, and six grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. J. W. Thometz[sic], Lewiston, and three brothers, Ralph H. Jones, Sr., Pocatello; Hugh W. Jones, Malad, and O. D. Jones, Lynnwood, California.

Mrs. Ray’s husband died in May, 1959.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at the Congregational Church in Pocatello with the Rev. Harold W. Heckman officiating. Burial was in the family plot at Malad.
