Rachel Hunter Cox (Birth – May 16, 1896)

Rachel Hunter Cox, 86, died Friday, February 25, (1983) at the Bannock Regional Medical Center following an illness. She was born to Edward and Mary Ann Spillett Hunter on May 16, 1896 in Rockland and attended schools in Rockland.

She married Harry W. Cox on April 18, 1917. She liked fishing and gardening and she liked to crochet. She was a member of the LDS Church.

Survivors include two sons, Wayne, Rockland, and Glen, Burley; four daughters, Mrs. D.M. (Margaret) Gilson, American Falls; Mrs. Fred (Rowlene) Norris, Snohomish, Wash.; Mrs. Harold (Nora Dell) Harley, Rockland; and Mrs. Fred (Jean) Rhom; two sisters, Mrs. Murriel McNeil, Rockland, and Mrs. Cecil Kemper, Moses Lake, Wash.; a brother, Clarence Hunter, Corvallis, Mont.; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday at the United Church of Christ in American Falls. The Rev. Leonard Leisy and Rev. Melvin Frank officiated. Burial was in the Valley View Cemetery in Rockland under the direction of the Davis Mortuary.
