Funeral Services For P. M. Rees

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the stake tabernacle for Phillip M. Rees, 61, of Cherry Creek who died at his home Sunday [May 14, 1941] of a heart attack following treatment at the Oneida county hospital for a fractured leg. Leo D. Williams, Bishop of the Cherry Creek ward presided. Invocation was given by James A. Facer. Speakers included LeGrande Horsley, Thos. W. Richards, and J. M. Isaacson. Musical numbers were given by H. M. Williams, Mrs. T. D. Price, the St. John quartet, and a duet by Mrs. Wanda Napier and Mrs. Faye Hansen. Mrs. Carmen Howell gave a short history of Mr. Rees. The benediction was offered by William Harris.

Interment was made at the Malad cemetery with Joseph A. Jones dedicating the grave.

Mr. Rees was born May 16, 1880 at Cherry Creek, the son of Maroni and Emily Vaughn Rees. He has been a resident of Cherry Creek all his life. In 1907 he was married to Nellie Brantzeg and they became the parents of seven children, five of whom survive.

Mr. Rees was an active member of the L.D. S. church and at the time of his death was first counselor to the bishop of the Cherry Creek ward.

Mr. Rees is survived by his wife; five children, Mrs. Maud Harris of Portage, Marion Reese of Garfield, Utah, and Mrs. Erma Madsen, Phil Rees, and Gloria Rees all of Malad; and the following brothers and sisters: Gomer Rees of Malad; Dave Rees of Uticia, Utah, Dr. Thomas Reese of Iron Wood, Mich., Mrs. Emily Thomas of Malad, Mrs. Gwen Miller of Ogden, and M. V. Rees of Malad.
