Phil Young
Phil Young, 88, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at Light House Assisted Living under the care of Hospice. The cause of death was complications from a stroke.
He was born on February 22, 1929, in Helper, Utah, to Riley Lee Young and Rowena Inez Johnson. He attended school in Price, Utah, and graduated from North Emery High School in Huntington, Utah. He married Iva Lou Dives on July 14, 1950, in Malad, Idaho. They moved to Riverton near Blackfoot to farm and then moved into Blackfoot where he has lived since. He worked in Real Estate most of his working years. He was a member of the LDS Church and had several callings including Elder’s Quorum President, Sunday School President, and Ward Clerk for several years, in addition to other callings.

He is survived by his wife; sons, Dennis (Carolene) Young of Homedale and Brent (Cindy) Young of Burley; daughters, Christine Neihart of Blackfoot; Julie (Rich) Woodfin of Blackfoot; Debra (Martin) Dixon of Montpelier, and Sandee Young of Blackfoot; 17 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Robert Young, Shelley, Idaho; and four sisters, Donnie Powell, Murray, Utah; Sheilla Kravet, Murray, Utah; Nancy Sevy, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Sherry Marie Gillinspie,

Florida). He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, four sisters, a daughter (Cynthia Schramm), and a grandson (Jason Young).
A funeral service was held Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave.
Interment was in the Malad Cemetery.
