MALAD-Catherine Rebecca Hill Cowley, 86, 121 Bannock, Malad, died Saturday ( ? Feb 1986) in the Oneida County Nursing Home.

She was born February 6, 1900, in St. John, to John and Mary Jane Williams Hill. She grew up and was educated in St. John and Malad. She later attended Albion State Normal School and Idaho State University.

She married Alexander Hyrum Cowley March 29,1920, in Pocatello. He died October 25, 1944.

She had been a teacher for many years and taught school in several local areas including Dairy Creek, Holbrook and Malad. While teaching in Malad, she worked with the special education children.

She was a member of the LDS Church and served as a Primary teacher, Primary in-service leader, Relief Society visiting teacher and supervisor, and as a temple worker. She enjoyed working in the genealogy program and was a member of the Malad Fine Arts Club.

She is survived by six Anderson grandchildren, John, Barry, Karen, Scott, Jeffry and Gregory; and two sisters-in-law, Karine Hill and Grace Hill, both of Malad. She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Ethel Anderson.

Funeral services were held Wednesday in the Malad LDS Stake chapel with Bishop Howard May officiating. Burial was in the St. John Cemetery.
