P. Lon Neal, 47, died Saturday, April 11, at the Brigham Community Hospital of heart failure. He was born May 21, 1933 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Percy Willis and Ema Blanche Holmes Neal. He married Wilma Beth Oswald November 2, 1956 in the Idaho Falls Temple.
He has lived in Salt Lake City, Stone, Woods Cross, Smithfield and Providence before moving to Snowville where they have lived for the past 19 years.
He was a manufacturer and rancher, owning and operating P.L.N. Corp. and Intertrades in Snowville. He had attended Utah State University where he was active in campus activities. He had worked as a firefighter for the Forest Service and was a former member of the Cache County Sheriff’s Posse. He was also a N.P. with the Utah National Guard.
He was a high priest in the Curlew LDS Ward. He had fulfilled an LDS Mission to the Western States. He helped in the pilot program for young adults, was Aaronic Priesthood teacher, finance clerk, high councilor, and sports director.
He was presently serving as a Snowville City Councilman, president of the Snowville Water Company. He has served as a town Marshall and was selected to participate in the Bicentennial Pony Express Ride.
Surviving are his wife of Snowville; three sons and five daughters: Lonnie Neal, Fred C. Neal, Richard J. Neal, Robyn Neal, Rebecca Neal, all of Snowville; Mrs. Kelly (Lynne) Colman of Ogden; Kristie Neal, who is serving an LDS Mission to San Jose, California; Tamra Neal of Logan; his mother of Woods Cross; one brother and two sisters; Dean Neal of oustan, Texas; Mrs. Jim (Marilyn) Madsen of Brigham City and LaRene Neal of Woods Cross. Also surviving is his grandmother, Pearl Peterson, of Bountiful.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 15, at the Curlew Ward at Snowville with Bishop David Eliason officiating. Burial was in the Snowville Cemetery.
