Orville O. Jenks, 28 September 1921
Orville O. Jenks, 75, of Pocatello passed away November 11, 1996 at a local medical center.
He was born September 28, 1921 in Arbon Valley, the son of Albert Jenks and Izetta Olsen Jenks. Orville spent most of his life in Pocatello and attended Pocatello schools.
On July 20, 1959 he married his loving wife, Stella Harris in Elko, Nevada.
He worked at several businesses in Pocatello, including Flaherty’s Manufacturing, FMC, Simplot and as a deputy sheriff for Bannock County. In 1980 he retired from the US Postal Service as a postal operations specialist.
In 1942 Orville enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served at Guadalcanal during World War II. After four years of service, he received his discharge on December 7, 1945 in Washington, DC.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Assoc. of Retired Persons. Orville was an elder in the LDS Church.
He loved golf, football, basketball, boxing and fishing. He also liked to read history. He loved his family.
Survivors include his wife, Stella; two sisters, Leona Hoots and Una Willes and one brother, Max D. Jenks, all of Pocatello; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Don Jenks, Parley Jenks and Ray Jenks, and one sister, Elva Jenks.
Funeral services will be November 16, 1996 at the Colonia Funeral Home, Pocatello. Interment will be in Mountainview Cemetery with a military graveside service being provided by the combined veterans groups of Pocatello, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 735, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 3, American Legion Post 4, Noncommissioned Officers Assoc. No. 888 and the Fleet Reserve Assoc. No. 133.
