Our beloved father, grandfather and brother, Ora Heaton John, 90, died Saturday, January 22, 1994 at the Box Elder County Nursing Home, in Tremonton. He was born June 30, 1903 in Portage to David Abbott and Laura Reba Heaton John.

He married Geneva Hall on December 20, 1922 in the Salt Lake Temple. She died December 30, 1981.

He was reared and educated in Portage where he and his wife owned and operated their farm. He had worked at U & I Sugar Factory in Garland.

Mr. John had served on the Portage Town Board for many years.

He has served as bishop of the Portage Ward and high priest group leader. He also served as a high councilman and stake missionary in the Malad Idaho Stake.

Surviving are one daughter and one son, Iris Jones, Malad, Idaho; Dr Ronald Ora John, Camas, Washington. Eleven grandchildren, twenty seven great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother David A. John, Shelley, Idaho; and one sister Fern Christensen, Payson, Arizona. He was preceded in death by two daughters, one grandson, one great-grandson, three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday January 24th at the Portage Ward Chapel with Bishop Bud Lee Knudsen officiating.

Burial was in the Portage Cemetery.
