Oliver Khalil Harris

Oliver Khalil Harris, 89, our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away early Wednesday morning, October 22, 1997 at a local care center following an extended illness. He had been a resident of the Pocatello area for more than 60 years.
He was born November 17, 1907 in McCammon, a son of Oliver W. and Eliza Pearl Davis Harris. He was reared in McCammon, where he attended schools.
On September 10, 1932, he married Malinda Wells in Ogden, Utah and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Malinda died February 16, 1988.
He farmed most of his life in the Chubbuck and Tyhee areas. He also worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. He was also a heavy equipment operator, and was a member of the Operator Engineers Local.
He was a member of the LDS church, and had served as a counselor in the bishopric in Fort Hall, and was a home teacher. He enjoyed fishing and watching competitive sports on TV, particularly basketball, as he was a star played in his youth at McCammon High School.
Survivors include one son, and his wife, Rodney and Kaye Harris, Elko, Nevada; two daughters and their husbands: Anne and Robert C. Brower, Pocatello; Kay and Jay Tillotson, Ogden, Utah; one brother and his wife, DuWayne and Carolyn Harris, McCammon; four sisters and their husbands, Fern McCardle, Margie and Merthan Miles, all of Pocatello, Ethel Jean and Vern Smart in McCammon; Colleen and Dave Tewalt, Caldwell, Idaho; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four sisters, Twila Ann Rufeuaucht, Thressa Hazel Binggelli, Mary Baludwin Parkinson and Theo Morgan; an infant brother, Calvin Claude Harris, and infant twin sons and daughter, Clifton and Afton Harris.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October 25, 1997 at 11 a.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave., with his son, Bishop Rodney Harris officiating. Interment will be in the Malad City Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. The family will receive friends on Saturday for one hour prior to time of the services at the funeral home.
