Olive G. Wharton

Brigham City – Olive G. Wharton, 82, of Brigham City, died Thursday, July 8, 1993 at her home.

She was born Feb. 24, 1911, in Elwood, a daughter George Albert and Sarah Helen Green Garfield.

She married Walter A. Goodell, Dec. 1, 1931. They were later divorced.

She married Carl J. Wharton, Jan 18, 1942, in Wickenburg, Ariz. The marriage was solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple. He died June 15, 1990.

She had bee employed at the Ogden Army Arsenal in Clearfield and was a chauffeur at the Utah General Depot during WWII.

She was instrumental in developing and running the elementary school special education program in Box Elder County. She enjoyed crocheting and loved flowers and gardening.

Surviving are her children , Robert and Mignon Goodell, of Brigham City; Nathan J. Wharton, of Malad, Idaho; Lyman D. Wharton, of Roy; Leora “Lori” and Dennis Hardy of Corinne; Carl J. and Lori Wharton, of Idaho Falls, Idaho; 27 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving is a sister, Eva Rosenbaum, of Fresno, Calif.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Ann Wharton.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 12 at 11 a.m. in the Olsen-Myers Mortuary with Bishop Richard Tanner officiating.

Friends may call at the mortuary Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment will be in the Tremonton Cemetery.
