Nolan W. Jorgensen

Nolan Wight Jorgensen, 76, of Idaho Falls, died April 28, 1992, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center following a lingering illness.

He was born March 29, 1916, at Bear River City, Utah, to Joseph Oliver and Mary Verlilie Wight Jorgensen. When he was a child he moved with his family
to Idaho Falls, where he attended schools and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He also attended Ricks College in Rexburg before serving an LDS mission in Norway. He served in the Air Force during World War II and was stationed overseas.

On Oct. 12, 1954, he married Joanne H. Heileson at Idaho Falls. They have since lived in Ammon and he was employed at the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory as a materials expediter until his retirement in 1981.

He was an active member of the LDS Church and had served two full-time missions and one stake mission, as clerk in the bishopric and stake athletic director. He was active in the American Legion. He enjoyed music and Brigham Young University sports.

Survivors include his wife of Ammon; children, Robert W. Purcell and John D. Purcell, both of Boise, Steven N. Jorgensen of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Gary (Stefanie) Bennett of Bremerton, Wash.; two brothers and five sisters, Lee Jorgensen of Bountiful, Utah, Percy Jorgensen of Kalispell, Mont., Thelma Gilpin of Salmon, Ruth Ross of Ogden, Utah, Mrs. M. (Metta) Mendenhall of Idaho Falls, Bernice Jorgensen of Blackfoot, Mrs. Con (Chloe) Keith of Salt Lake City; and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.

Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the Ammon LDS 1st Ward, 3000 Central Ave., with Bishop Richard Rankin officiating. The family will meet with friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home in Idaho Falls and Friday for one hour before services at the church. Burial will be in Ammon Cemetery.
