Nellie S. Gleed, 94, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, Diane (Barry) Treasure in Idaho Falls, Idaho on January 2, 2004 from conditions due to age.

Nellie was born in Garland, Utah, March 8, 1909, the second oldest child of Luther and Helena Michaelis Sasser. She grew up on the family homestead in Holbrook, Idaho, and had a lifetime of friends, memories and stories from those early pioneer years in the Curlew Valley.

Nellie married J. Guy Gleed, January 5, 1927 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and lived in Malad, Idaho most of her adult life. Guy and Nellie raised their six children in Malad. While in Malad she was active in numerous community organizations including Ladies Literary Club, American Legion Auxiliary and Lady Lions. She served in many positions in the LDS Church including 13 years as Malad Stake Relief Society President and many years as a worker in the Logan LDS Temple. Among her many talents was a beautiful alto singing voice. It was once said that for nearly 50 years she and her husband, Guy sang at half the funerals in the Malad Valley.

Guy and Nellie retired and moved to Provo, Utah in 1968. Her husband passed away December 3, 1984. Nellie continued to live in Provo until June, 2002, when she moved to an assisted living center in Idaho Falls, Idaho to be close to family members.

Guy, Jr.), Provo, Utah; two sons: Darl (Jenna Lee) Gleed, Malad, and Blair (Diane) Gleed, Layton, Utah. She has 24 grandchildren, 79 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Nellie loved her family and her church. While living in Provo, she served two missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, one for 11 years at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, and one for five years at the Family History Center in Salt Lake City. She served 16 years as a worker in the Provo LDS Temple. She loved genealogy and family history work, quilting, candy making and the BYU football and basketball teams. She was the anchor to her family and fiercely proud of each one of her posterity. She was an incredible woman who lived life to the fullest with a positive attitude and zest for life to the very end.

Funeral services were held January 6 in the Malad Stake Third Ward Chapel. Interment was in the Malad City Cemetery.
