Mary Smith Williams Gleed

GLEED, MARY SMITH WILLIAMS

Mary Smith Williams Gleed, 80, died at the home of her daughter, Dixie Bush, January 10, 1985.

She was born in Willard, Utah, to Thomas Alred and Eliza Middleton Smith on June 24, 1906. Her family moved to Malad when she was a small child. She was reared and educated in Malad.

On February 6, 1924, she married Samuel Verlin Williams in the Salt Lake Temple. He died January 10, 1960. On March 17, 1970 she married Wilford Gleed. He died April 7, 1984.

As a member of the LDS Church, she worked in many organizations, including the presidency of the Relief Society and the MIA.

She was a Gold Star War Mother and sang at many funerals. She loved crocheting, tatting and all kinds of handiwork.

She is survived by three sons, Wayne E. Williams, Malad; Thomas S. Williams, Ogden; Donald G. Williams, Smithfield, UT; two daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Dixie) Bush, Mrs. Ronald (Elda Mae) Price, both of Malad; one brother, Marion E. Smith, San Leandro, CA; 18 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Verlin S. Williams and Burton D. Williams, and six brothers.

Funeral services were held January 14 at the Malad Stake LDS Chapel with Bishop Jerry D. Bush officiating. Burial was in the Samaria Cemetery.
