Nellie Isadore Hess, 7 February 1909

Nellie Isadore Hess, 94, of Malad, died July 20, 2003 in the Oneida County Nursing Home. She was born February 7, 1909 in Malad, the daughter of Emmett H. and Martha Jones Thomas. She was the middle child of 14 brothers and sisters. She grew up and was educated in Malad.

She married Floyd R. Hess March 26, 1925 in Pocatello. The first two years of their marriage they lived in Colfax, WA. Since 1930 they have resided in Elkhorn, St. John and Malad communities. She worked along side her husband as they earned a living farming and ranching.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church. She was an active member of the Ladies Aide. She was a great help in taking care of members of her family. She was a hard working person. Each year she canned hundreds of quarts of fruits and vegetables.

Nell is survived by her daughter, W. Kay (Ron) Dennis, Tremonton, UT; three sons: Robert W. (Lois) Hess; Danny T. (Carrie) Hess, both of Malad, and Sherman F. (Janice) Hess, LaPine, OR; 19 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Martisha “”SIS”, in 1951 and by her husband, Floyd in 1992.
