Funeral Friday For Moroni V. Rees

Funeral services for Moroni Vaughn Rees, 76, will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in the Malad Second ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Mr. Rees died Tuesday [March 21, 1950] at the Oneida hospital from complications following surgery.

Bishop A. G. Willie will conduct the services.

M. V. Rees was born June 14, 1873 at Provo, Utah, a son of Moroni[sic] and Emily Vaughn Rees. His parents brought him to their home in Malad when he was two weeks old. On January 1, 1898 he married Mary Ann Chivers. Mr. Rees spent his entire life in Malad Valley engaged in farming and stock raising. He served one term as probate judge of Oneida county and at the time of his death was serving as Malad City police judge.

He is survived by his wife and the following son and daughters: William C. Rees and Mrs. Hazel Millward, Malad; Emily Jones, Salt Lake City; Marietta Hale, Redwood City, California; three brothers, D** Thomas R. Rees, Washington, D. C.; Gomer Rees, Ogden; D. J. Rees, *aft, California; two sisters, Mrs. Emily Thomas, Malad, and Mrs. *wennie Miller, Ogden.

Burial will be in the Malad cemetery under the direction of the Malad Funeral Service. Friends may call at the family home Thursday evening and Friday morning until time **** ****.

Moroni[sic] V. Rees Dies

Moroni[sic] V. Rees, Malad, longtime member of the Idaho Cattlemen’s Association, passed away at Malad on Mar. 21. He was 76 years old. Mr. Rees was a purebred breeder of Hereford cattle and with his son, W. C. Rees, had sold cattle all over the state of Idaho through association sales. He leaves his wife and the following son and daughters: William C. Rees and Mrs. Hazel Millward, Malad; Emily Jones, Salt Lake City; Marietta Hale, Redwood City, Calif. The association extends to Mrs. Rees and his son and daughters its most sincere sympathy in their loss.
