MILDRED BYBEE

Mildred Wise Bybee, 89, 440 Warren, died Saturday at her home following an illness.

She was born Jan. 22, 1897 in Syracuse, Utah, to Joseph and Martha Abbie Wardley Wise. She was reared in Downey where she received her schooling.

On Nov. 14, 1917 she married William Dow Bybee in Pocatello and their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple.

Mrs. Bybee has lived in Downey for 36 years, prior to moving to Pocatello in 1953. In Downey, she and her husband owned and operated the Downey Cafe and Bybee’s Grocery Store. Mrs. Bybee was custodian at Idaho State University until retirement. Mr. Bybee died August 25 1979.

Mrs Bybee was an active member of the 15th ward LDS church where she served in various capacities, including Relief Society President, councilor and visiting teacher for many years. She also worked in the Sunday school. She loved to work in her yard and to quilt, sew and do handwork.

Survivors include three sons, Vern Bybee, Phoenix, Arizona; Reese Bybee, Hemet, California; Guy Bybee, Denver, Colorado; two daughters Mrs. Don (Beth) Bloxham and Mrs. Carl (Ella) Hancock, both of Pocatello; two brothers Belmar (Cec) Wise, Downey; Golden Wise, Yuma, Arizona; a sister Mrs. Cohn (Abby) Bloxham, Shelly; 23 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded by her parents, a son, two sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00 am., at the Pocatello LDS 15th ward chapel, at 1440 Lakeview Drive with Bishop Bob Marshall officiating. The family will receive friends today from 7:00 until 9:00 pm., at Manning funeral chapel and Tuesday from 10:00 am until service time at the 15th ward chapel. Burial will be at the Downey Cemetery.
