Melvin F. Fowler

FOWLER, MELVIN F., May 8, 1928 – September 11, 1990

Melvin F. Fowler, 62, died at his son’s home on September 11, 1990. He was born May 8, 1928 in Shelley to John Hyrum and Mildred Jane Croft Fowler. He attended Shelley schools.

He married Marjorie Jean Lyon on May 25, 1945 in Shelley. The couple later divorced. He then married Marian “Bea” Leigh on November 10, 1951 in Shelley. She died December 23, 1988. He married Darlene Gleed Harris on April 2 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

He came to Pocatello from Minidoka and was a Pocatello resident for 31 years. He was employed as a signalman for Union Pacific Railroad for 42 years and was a member of the Signalmen’s Union.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and pitching horseshoes. He bowled with various leagues and was a member of the Bourbon Barrel pool league.

Surviving are his wife and one son, Don Fowler, both of Pocatello; two stepsons, Greg Harris, Bellevue, and Jeff Harris, also Pocatello; four daughters, Elena Rudisill, Corvalis, OR; Karen Jones and Mrs. Curt (Brenda) Neville, both of Pocatello and Mrs. Mark (Janet) Moats, Nampa; two stepdaughters, Sherri Kailiponi, Bellevue, and Mrs. Barry (Lanna) Lewis, Pocatello; three brothers, Leland Fowler, Idaho Falls, Glen Fowler, Woodville, and Laverl Fowler, Nampa, and 21 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, one step daughter and a sister and three brothers.

Funeral services will be Saturday in Manning Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
