RIPLEY, MARY VIRGINIA, March (?), 1920 – September 28, 2004

Mary Virginia “Rip” Ripley passed away on September 28, loving sister of the late Ray, Clififord, Clarence, Grant and Isabelle; dear aunt of eight. Mary was born in malad, Idaho to Lon and Annie Ripley in March of 1920. She grew up in Malad, attended Malad schools and graduated from Malad High School. She then attended St. Anthony’s Nursing School in Pocatello where she became a registered nurse. She worked for the Oneida County Hospital for a while before enlisting in the service. She served in the Medical Corps in the Aleutian Islands and Europe.

After the war she enlisted in the Veteran’s Administration again serving in her field. She worked in various Veterans’ hospitals throughout the U.S. She was very proud of the articles that she wrote, and they were published in medical journals.

Virginia never married. She lived for her nursing career and taking care of her mother who lived to be 102, so she did a good job. She loved her automobiles. She made sure she had a new one every two years. She made many trips to Malad all by herself, driving from Cleveland, Ohio, which took about three days. She had many friends in Malad and returned quite frequently. Since retiring, she has lived in Cleveland, Ohio.

Family and friends gathered at the Northfield-Macedonia Cemetery, Northfield, Ohio, for a memorial graveside service on October 7th.
