Funeral services were held in Rockland, Idaho for Mrs. Mary Thorpe Gilson, who died May 23, 1963 at a hospital in American Falls following a heart attack.

She was born August 6, 1893 in Samaria, Idaho to Samuel and Anna Bell Memmoth Thorpe and attended school in Samaria. On July 31, 1917 she married Joseph A. Gilson in Brigham City, Utah. They spent their early married life in Malad and moved to Rockland Valley in October of 1929. She was a member of the LDS Church.

Former Bishop Hubert Gleed was a speaker at the services.

Survivors are husband, sons, and daughters, M/Sgt. Arnold Gilson, who is serving in the Air Force in Japan; D.M. (Mert) of American Falls; Mrs. June Schmett of Rockland; Mrs. Josephine Showalter, Ogden; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Ben A. Evans of Malad.

Her son, Arnold, came from Japan to attend the services. Many relatives and friends and former residents of Malad attended the funeral services. Among them were: Mr. and Mrs. Ben A.
