Mary Elizabeth Richardson Griffin

GRIFFIN, MARY ELIZABETH RICHARDSON

Mary Elizabeth Richardson Griffin, an early pioneer of the Upper Snake River Valley, died of natural causes Saturday evening at St. Anthony Community Hospital.

She was born July 5, 1887 at Malad, to Josiah and Ruth Elizabeth Williams Richardson. Her early years of schooling were in Ammon and Boise areas and later in Malad where the family settled on a ranch in the Deep Creek area.

On September 2, 1908 she married Henry Alfred Griffin in the Logan LDS Temple. They made their home in Rigby where they pioneered a farming enterprise in the Snake River Valley. They lived there for 46 years. For 30 years she lived in Logan, Utah and for the past several years made her home in Aberdeen and Pocatello with her daughters. She enjoyed flowers and quilting.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura, and her husband Henry.

Survivors include children, Henry A. Griffin, Jr., Corvallis, MT; Mrs. Juanita Dunn, Pocatello; Kerney Griffin, Grace; Mrs. Ralph (Victoria) Hayes and Mrs. George (Wanda) Summers, both of Aberdeen; Mrs. Mary Carter, Rigby, and Mrs. Lee (LaVon) Caudle, Idaho Falls; 32 grandchildren and 53 great grandchildren.

Interment will be in the Clarkston, Utah Cemetery with graveside services at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 7 until 8 p.m. at Manning Funeral Chapel.
