MALAD – Debra Ann Williams Griffiths, 53, of Malad, and wife of Rick J.
Griffiths, passed away on Monday February 26, 2007, at her home following a short illness.
She was born October 31, 1953, in Ogden, Utah, a daughter of William Claire and Anna Lee Hunsaker Williams. She was raised and educated in Brigham City, Utah, and was a graduate of Box Elder High School. Debbie later graduated from the Hi-Style Beauty College.
She served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the England-London mission. It was here that she met her future sweetheart and husband, Elder Rick Griffiths. They were married April 1, 1977, in the Ogden, Utah, LDS Temple.
Since their marriage they have resided in Malad, where Debbie had been a homemaker and had raised four wonderful children. The past six years she had been employed with the LDS Church in custodial services.
Debbie enjoyed doing all types of handwork, and had created many beautiful crochet items, including her granddaughters’ blessing gowns. Her great love was her family, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She was an active member of the LDS Church, and had served in many callings
including stake Primary president, stake Relief Society president, Sunday school
coordinator, and recently as a teacher in the Third Ward Young Women’s.
She is survived by her husband, Rick, of Malad; children, Erick and Beckie (and children, Pearce, Lillee, Jack) Griffiths of Logan, Utah, Mindy and Jeremy (and children, April and Caleb) Swain of West Jordan, Utah, Jessica and John (and son, Jaxson) Knight of Logan, Utah, Aaron J. of Malad; her mother, Anna Lee Williams of Brigham City, Utah; mother- and father-in law, Gordon and Mary John Griffiths of Malad; brothers and sisters, Kathy Williams, Jill and Richard Grover, Sandy and Clyde Wohgelmuth, Rick and Melanie Williams, all of Brigham City, Utah, Rand Williams of Ogden, Utah, Roger and Stephanie Williams of Kanab, Utah. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, April Dawn Griffiths, her father, Claire Williams, an infant brother, Ronald Todd Williams and a sister-in-law, Debbie Hulet Williams. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 2, 2007, at noon in the Malad LDS Stake Chapel, 1100 W. 1250 N. Friends may call at the church on Thursday evening, March 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Friday at the church prior to services from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in the Malad City Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Horsley Funeral Home, Malad.
