Mary Delene Williams Edwards

Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, peacefully left this life December 9, 2014 at age 91. Mary was a valiant woman whose strong spirit and tireless service was the glue that held her family together.
Mary was born April 12, 1923 in Malad, Idaho to John and Leona Williams. With her seven younger sib-lings, she learned to work hard and shoulder responsibility on the farm. She graduated as valedictorian of her Malad High School class. At the University of Utah, she played basketball and studied at the School of Nursing. She married her eternal sweetheart, Robert W. (Bob) Edwards, in 1944. Mary became a registered nurse, working for many years at LDS Hospital, then for Dr. Malcolm Jeppsen in private practice.
For five decades, she was the “neighborhood nurse,” giving shots. rafcmfWodd pressures, and assisting with all kinds of emergency and everyday medical care for many in her Rose Park neighborhood. She loved sports, was an avid BYU fan, and rooted for all Utah College and pro teams.
A lifelong member of the LDS Church, Mary served in countless positions, including Young Women president, ward and stake Relief Society president and faithful visiting teacher. With her husband, she was an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple for several years. Mary and Bob served a mission to the Seoul Korea Temple 1988-1990. Bob passed away in 2002.
Mary is survived by her children: Sherry L. Kramer, Robert W. Jr. (Denise), David W., John W. (Shawna), Catherine A. (Rod) Beckstead, Mary Sue (Andy) Floisand; foster daughters Lorene (Dalroy) Killsnight and Jaquiline Quillen; a multitude of much-loved grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; her sister Rose Lee Evans; and many dear friends, former co-workers, and extended family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bob, her parents, and siblings; Ila Mae John, John Jr. (Jackie), Shanell, Marie Goodey, Bonnie Johnson and Kay Dean Williams. —- Services— Tuesday, December 16. 2014. at the Rose Park 2nd Ward Chapel. Interment, Lake Hills Memorial Cemetery, Sandy.
