Funeral Saturday For Mrs. Deschamps

Mrs. Mary Blanche Davis Deschamps, 75, wife of David S. Deschamps, prominent Malad Valley stockman and farmer, died at the family home in St. John, Wednesday morning (02 May 1956) after an extended illness.

A daughter of Samuel and Mary Davis, Mrs. Deschamps was born at St. John, October 17, 1880. She was married to David S. Deschamps at Malad, March 28, 1899. The couple observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1949.

Mrs. Deschamps was a member of the LDS Church and served as a Relief Society teacher in the St. John Ward. She was also a member of the Oneida county Ladies Woolgrowers.

Mrs. Deschamps was the mother of nine children, two of whom preceded her in death.

Surviving are her husband; the following sons and daughters: Louis Deschamps, Mrs. Morgan (Mary) Harris, Parley Deschamps, Mrs. Jesse R. (Shelba) Dredge, David Deschamps Jr., all of Malad; Ray Deschamps, Billings, Montana; Mrs. George N. (Blanche) Weston, Mill Valley, California; one sister, Mrs. Margaret R. Jones, Malad; also 22 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday May 5th at 1 p.m. at the St. John LDS ward chapel. Friends may call at the family home in St. John Friday evening and Saturday until time of services. Interment will be at the St. John cemetery under the direction of Benson Funeral Home.

Services Held For Mrs. Deschamps

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Blanche Davis Deschamps, 75, who died May 2, (1956) were held Saturday at the St. John LDS ward with Bishop Melvin Yearsley officiating.

Family prayer at the home was offered by Bishop Morgan Harris; invocation, Mitchel Jones; benediction, Johnny Nielsen; dedicatory prayer, Jesse R. Dredge. Speakers were Bishop Yearsley, who also gave the obituary; William H. Rutter, Joseph M. Isaacson and Dr. Thomas W. Richards. Musical numbers consisted of prelude and postlude by Mrs. Mary Jensen; vocal solo, Helen Edwards Jones; song, Ward brothers; vocal solo, Keith Evans. Casket bearers were Jesse R. Dredge Jr., Monte Deschamps, Harold Jones, D. Ray Dredge, J. D. Deschamps, Morgan D. Harris.
