Mary Sweeten dies Wednesday

Mary Ann Casper Sweeten, 84, died Wednesday, May 14. She was born February 19, 1896 at Lewisville, Idaho to George Ether and Eliza Wray Casper. On October 8, 1914 she married Colen Hagle Sweeten in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died September 23, 1971.

She is survived by six sons, three daughters: Colen H. Sweeten Jr., Boise; George Wray Sweeten, Kaysville; Elbert James Sweeten, Malad; Lloyd Robert Sweeten, Malad; Cecil Casper Sweeten, Bountiful; Garth Gillis Sweeten, Malad; Mrs. Grant (Nellie) Christophersen, Mrs. Lloyd (Florence) Hubbard, Malad; Mrs. Steve (Fay) Cottle, West Point, Utah; 38 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Casper of Lewisville, Idaho.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May17, at the Malad LDS 4th Ward Chapel with Bishop Clarence Kent officiating. The family prayer was given by Bishop Colen H. Sweeten Jr.; prelude and postlude music, Elsie Noel; invocation, Steve Cottle; vocal, Farnsworth Sisters and The Philomels; life sketch, Beth Sweeten; speakers, Lloyd Hubbard, Bishop Clarence Kent; President Myron Sorensen; benediction, Don Christophersen; accompanists, Ellen Capener and Kathleen Sessions.

The grave was dedicated by Charles W. Casper; flowers by the 4th Ward Relief Society, Pam Smith, President. Concluding rites were at Malad City Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Colen Sweeten III, Elbert Sweeten Jr., John Sweeten, Robert Sweeten, Bruce Hubbard, Steven Sweeten, Todd Sweeten and Derek Sweeten.
