Marvilla Christena Gorder, 89, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2009.
She was born on August 24, 1920 in Ogden, Utah, the daughter of John D. and Agnes Henrietta Talbot Rutherford.
Marvilla married Jack David Payton Sr. in May 1939 in Ogden, Utah. He preceded her in death on April 18, 1978. She married Raymond LaVere Howell in Kemmerer, Wyoming.
She was a native Utah resident residing in Weber, Davis and Morgan counties.
Marvilla was a member of the LDS Church Oakhills Ward, receiving her endowment in 1985.
She loved being with her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are four sons: W. Lamar Payton, Layton; Jack D. (Darlene) Payton, Brigham City, Michael D. Payton, Malad, ID; Phillip Morrill, Layton; four daughters, Karma J. (Gene) Evenson, Colorado Springs, CO; Peggy L. Conger, Layton, Diane Morrill, Layton; Terrie Bingham Payton, Malad, ID; 32 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her father, mother, brothers, sisters, husbands and son.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Oakhills LDS Ward Chapel, 1410 East Gentile Street. Friends and family may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Farmington City Cemetery.
