MARVA SORENSEN

DOWNEY–Marva Burton Sorensen, 62, died early Thursday at a Spokane, Wash., hospital following a massive heart attack.

Mrs. Sorensen was born at Downey Nov. 11, 1917, to William J. and Mary C. Simpson Burton. She was the 10th child in a family of 12 children.

She attended schools in Downey, graduating from Downey High School.

She married Laurence Sorensen Feb. 8, 1941. They made their home in Downey, Malad, and for many years at Genesee, where he was employed by the Federal Government as a soil conservationist.

They were visiting at the home of a daughter in Spokane when she suffered the heart attack.

She is survived by her husband, Genesee; daughter, Mrs. Robert (Marilyn) James, Spokane; sons Larry Dan, with the U.S. Navy, and Jim, Kimberly; several grandchildren; and brothers and sisters, Alvin Burton, Burley; Douglas Burton, Ogden, Utah; Elizabeth Hooker, Montpelier; Mrs. William (Sarah) Moon, Donald Burton, Elward Burton and Mrs. Lloyd (Pearl) Bybee all of Downey, and Marian Draper, Malad.

Funeral services will be held at Genesee Saturday. Friends may call prior to services at the Marsh Valley Funeral Home in Arimo Tuesday at 2 p.m. and burial will follow at the Downey cemetery.
