Mark Bigler Morgan

MORGAN, MARK BIGLER, December 11, 1930 – March 23, 2006

SALT LAKE CITY, UT – With loved ones surrounding him, Mark Bigler Morgan passed away Thursday, March 23, 2006 in Salt lake City, Utah at the magical age of 75. Mark was born December 11, 1930 in Malad, Idaho to Fenton David and Irene Emily Morgan; the third of five children. Mark’s family later moved to Pocatello.

Mark attended Pocatello High School where he was a member of the cheerleading squad. Following his graduation in 1949, Mark joined the U.S. Air Force. He married his high school sweetheart and soul mate, Catherine Ione Bybee on December 27, 1950.

Catherine joined Mark in Wichita Falls, Texas at the base where he completed four years of service. Returning to Pocatello, Mark earned B.S. degrees in physics and math from Idaho State University in 1959.

Retiring after more than 30 years of service, Mark worked as a nuclear physicist and engineer for Westinghouse at Idaho National Engineering Laboratory.

An entrepreneur, he and his life-long partner, Cathy, created and owned many businesses including the College market, The Blue Daisy restaurant, and Kitchen Classics custom cabinetry design for home and business.

Mark had a great sense of humor and a positive attitude. He loved spending time with his family. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mark served faithfully, blessing the lives of his family, friends and neighbors.

Mark is survived by his wife, Catherine; four children, Michael Ellis (Michelle Marra), San Diego, CA; Kathy Lynn Miller, Carrie Lee Hazel (Merrill), and Rebecca Jean Dutson (Rulon); nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; three siblings, Lois Lords (Alvin), Gordon (Carol), and Richard (Ellen); other family members, Kay Lynne Morgan, David Wilson Miller and Chip Kahrs; many other relatives and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his older brother, Robert Morgan and his parents.

Funeral services are scheduled on March 28, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, Sandy, Utah. Friends may call the evening before from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Larkin Sunset Gardens.
