
MARIA EVANS WILLIAMS
Maria Evans Williams, 98, of Malad passes away Monday, October 17, 2005, in Provo, Utah of causes incident to age.
She was born August 19, 1907, in Malad, Idaho, a daughter of Hugh Jones Evans and Sarah Palmer Evans. She was raised and educated in Malad and later graduated from Albion State Normal School and Brigham Young University. In the Fall of 1928 she began her teaching career in Malad and later taught in Idaho Falls and again in Malad.
She married Joseph Emlyn Williams on June 11, 1941 in the Salt Lake Temple, Salt Lake City Utah. He passed away March 13, 1971.
During her teaching career she taught all grades, 1-12. One of the great satisfactions of her life was meeting and remembering her students, many of whom were children of former students.
She is survived by a daughter, Marilyn W. Neal of Orem, Utah, and a son, Joseph Hugh Williams of Provo, Utah; three grandchildren, Curtis Neal of Boise, Idaho, Aldena Altememy of Boise, Idaho, and Maria (Doug) Blanchard of Provo, Utah and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph E. Williams; a brother, Myrthus W. Evans and a sister, Maureen Hunter.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 21, 2005 at the Malad 1st Ward Chapel, Malad, Idaho at 11:00 a.m. Viewing will be Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 West, 300 North, Malad, and at 10:00 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be at the Malad City Cemetery.
The family would like to express appreciation to her friends and neighbors in Malad who were so caring and attentive while she lived in her home, and also to the staff of the Cove Point Retirement Community, Provo, Utah for their caring services during the past two years.
