Mae Cutler Williams

BLACKFOOT — Mae Cutler Williams, 86, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2007, at The Willows in Blackfoot, Idaho.

Mae was born in Rigby, Idaho, on May 13, 1920, to Zella Mae Parks and William Dalley Cutler. She attended Rigby and Shelley schools, and graduated from Shelley High School. She attended Henagar Business School, Brigham Young University and graduated from Utah State University.

She married Ellis Lusk Williams from Malad, Idaho, in 1943.

Mae taught in the Thomas, St. Anthony, Firth, Rockland and Soda Springs school districts. She primarily taught home economics, but at times also taught typing and shorthand. Mae was county agent for Caribou County for several years.

Ellis and Mae retired from the Soda Springs School District in 1980, with a combined 72 years of experience in teaching and administration. After retirement, they moved to Blackfoot, where they enjoyed their many friendships with family, neighbors and acquaintances.

Mae’s hobbies were sewing, making quilts, hand bags and pillow cases. She enjoyed taking pictures, embroidering and camping. She and Ellis also enjoyed their park model in St. George, Utah, and cabin in Island park. She loved being with her family, friends and relatives.

She was active in school, community and church activities. she enjoyed giving lessons and demonstrations. Mae and Ellis also served in the Salt Lake Genealogy mission.

Surviving are children, Renee’ (Elzo) White of Blackfoot, J.V. Williams and partner, F. William (Bill) Balkie, of Florida, Shauna Williams of Idaho Falls, Chad Williams of Idaho Falls; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and brother, Carroll Cutler, of Idaho Falls. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis L. Williams, son, Rick Williams, parents, Zella Mae Parks and William Dalley Cutler, and brothers, Royal, Ted and Jerry.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 17, 2007, at the Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave. Blackfoot, Idaho. The family will meet with friends on Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. January 16, 2007, and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to service. Interment will be in the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery.
