Margriet Roughaar Clevenger (Birth – September 12, 1909)

Carson City, Nevada – Margriet Roghaar Clevenger, 78, was killed Tuesday night (12 January 1988) in an automobile accident near Las Vegas, Nevada.

She was born September 12, 1909, in Ogden, Utah, the daughter of John and Grace Roghaar. She moved to Grace, Idaho, in 1911 with her family where she attended Grace Schools. She graduated from Grace High School. In 1930 she graduated from the LDS Hospital’s School of Nursing in Salt Lake City, Utah, as a registered nurse.

She married Ralph Clevenger on August 26, 1936. The marriage was later solemnized in the Jordan Utah LDS Temple. She lived in Pocatello for 23 years where she was instrumental in teaching nursing at Pocatello General Hospital.

The family moved to Elko, Nevada, in 1956 where she was Director of Nurses at Elko General Hospital and organized, taught, and graduated the first class of practical nurses in Elko County School District.

In 1958 she moved to Reno, Nevada, and accepted a position as Supervisor of Health Occupations for the State of Nevada. She retired to Carson City, Nevada.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers, John and Ralph Roghaar. She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Fleiner, Reno; one son, Ralph Clevenger, Carson City; nine grandchildren; three sisters, Josephiene Beal, Rocklin, California, Helen R. Thomas, Malad, Idaho, and Lona R. Peterson, Salt Lake City, Utah; and one brother, Ray Roghaar of Salt Lake City.

Funeral services were held in Carson City, Nevada. Interment was in the Reno Cemetery.
