Laura Clegg

GRACE – Laura Gunnell Clegg, 94, of Grace, died Friday Nov. 30, 1990 at the Caribou Memorial Nursing Home in Soda Springs. She was born Oct. 7, 1896 at Wellsville, Utah to Thomas Lewis and Sarah Emeline Poppleton Gunnell. She was married to Benjamin Orson Clegg on June 29, 1981 in Pocatello. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Aug. 21, 1918. Mr. Clegg died Dec. 4, 1945.

She was a member of the Literary Club, the American Legion Auxillary and the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, reading, genealogy work and music.

She is survived by two daughters; Mrs. Allen W. (Ardell) Lyon, Preston, and Mrs. Don W. (Dolores) Gilbert, Grace; Two daughters-in-law: Reva Clegg Herd, Soda Springs, and Mrs. Dorothy Clegg, Moses Lake, Wash.; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Lewis Gunnell, Pocatello, and a sister, Mrs. Robert (Pearl) Goodwin, Soda Springs.

She was preceded in death by five sons; Leo, Richard, Warren, Gerald, and Deward Clegg; also four brothers and six sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 1 p.m. at the Grace LDS Stake Center with Bishop Joe Frank Swenson officiating. Friends may call at the Allen-Sims Funeral Home in Soda Springs on Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday at the Grace Stake Center from 11:30 a.m. To 12:45 p.m.

Burial will be in the Grace Cemetery.
