Margaret Symons

Margaret Williams Symons, 67, died Saturday at Bannock Regional Medical Center of heart failure.

She was born October 7, 1916, in Lava Hot Springs to Edward E. and Hazel Reese Williams. She attended grade school and graduated from high school in Lava Hot Springs.

On October 17, 1934, she married George Daniel Symons in the Logan LDS Temple. They farmed near Lava Hot Springs for 38 years. He died in 1973. She later moved to Pocatello to live with a daughter due to failing health.

She was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as a Primary teacher, a home teacher, Primary president, and a Relief Society teacher over the years. She enjoyed studying, reading, writing, gardening, hunting, fishing, sewing, and art. She was a member of the Dempsey Camp of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

She is survived by her children, Mrs. Thomas (Carolyn) Ranstrom, Pocatello; William Dean Symons, Kemmerer, Wyo.; Lynden Symons and George Ternel Symons, both of Lava Hot Springs; Del Rae Symons, Inkom; and Dewaine Edward Symons, Smithfield, Utah; 33 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward Williams, Fontana, California; three sisters, Mrs. Dwaine (Donna) Ingram, Pocatello; Mrs. William (Retta) Barger, Soda Springs; and Mrs. Frank (Rossetta) Smith, Lorenzo. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and Wesley, and a sister, Frankie Allen Fife.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Lava Hot Springs LDS Chapel with Bishop Maynard P. Mangelson officiating. Burial was in the Lava Hot Springs cemetery.
