Mabel Elvira Jensen Evans

EVANS, MABEL ELVIRA JENSEN, June 8, 1905 – October 14, 1980

Mabel Elvira Jensen Evans, 75, Malad, died Tuesday, Oct. 14 in the Oneida County Hospital after a long illness.

She was born June 8, 1905 at Elwood, UT to Henry Andreas and Elvira Caroline Mortensen Jensen.

She was a graduate of Bear River High School and Albion State Normal School and later taught school at Nelson and Holbrook.

On December 26, 1929, she married Raymond Jones Evans in Malad. The marriage was later solemnized in July, 1948 in the Logan LDS Temple. They lived on a farm north of Malad for 40 years when they moved to their present home in Malad.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions in both ward and stake levels.

Survivors include her husband, Malad; three sons, Raymond Jensen Evans, Pueblo, CO; Robert Henry Evans and William Donald Evans, both of Malad; three daughters, Mrs. Keith (Wilma) Fridal, Tremonton, UT; Mrs. Richard (Nedra) Preece, Vista, CA; and Mrs. Verdean (Marcia) Daugherty, Hyrum, UT; 24 grandchildren; five brothers, Blendon, Layton, UT; Grant, Malad; Jerry, Ogden, UT; Woodrow Fairview and Henry Jr., Oxford; four sisters, Mrs. James (Geneva) Chandler; Mrs. Fred (Doris) (?), Lander WY; and Mrs. Frank (Maxine) Johnson and Mrs. Earl (Mary Lou) Jensen, both of Preston.

Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 17 in the Malad LDS Third Ward Chapel with Bishop Garth Sweeten officiating.

Burial was in the Malad City Cemetery.
