Lyde William Facer

FACER, LYDE WILLIAM, July 16, 1927 – July 31, 1983

Lyde William Facer, 56, Pleasantview, died Wednesday evening at the Oneida County Hospital of cancer.

He was born July 16, 1927 at Holbrook to Moyle E. and Elizabeth F. Burnett Facer. He spent his childhood in Holbrook, receiving his education there and in Malad. He was a graduate of Malad High School. He later attended Utah State Trade and Tech College in Logan where he studied auto mechanics and welding. He then served in the Army during World War II.

He married Roma Kingsford Jan. 7, 1949 in the Logan LDS Temple.

For the past 34 years Mr. Facer had worked for Ren’s Chevrolet in Malad and had been the service manager for the past several years.

He is a member of the “Only the Best” Club, which gives recognition for superior service and is awarded by General Motors. As a side interest, he has farmed and ranched for many years.

He was a member of the LDS Church and served as Sunday school teacher and president, Young Men’s president, scout master, counselor in the bishopric, president of the Seventies Quorum, a stake missionary and a financial clerk. He also served a mission in New England. He was active in the community as a member of the Lions Club, serving as president and secretary. He was a special deputy for the Oneida County Sheriff’s Department, a volunteer emergency technician, and was a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Pleasantview; two sons, Stephen K. Facer, San Luis Obispo, CA and William E. Facer, serving a mission in Cornwall, NY; three daughters, Annette Facer, Hooper, UT; Mrs. Monte (Pamela) Christensen, Nephi, UT; and Mrs. Mike (Elizabeth) Deschamps, Pocatello, ID; seven grandchildren; his mother, Malad; two brothers, Mark Facer, LaCanada, CA, and Roger Facer, Grace; five sisters, Mrs. Joyce (Renee) Yearsley, Orem, UT; Mrs. Florene Ure, Salt Lake City, UT; Mrs. Don S. (Demona) Evans, Malad; Mrs. Bob (Ava) Mickleson, Pocatello; and Mrs. Adrian (Patricia) Jones, Denver, CO.

Funeral services were held at noon Saturday at the Malad LDS Stake Chapel with Bishop Frank Madsen officiating. Burial was in the Pleasantview Cemetery.
