Lurene Jones Shoemake, (1922)

SHOEMAKE, LURENE JONES, January 10, 1922 – December 19, 2006

Lurene Jones Shoemake passed away into the arms of her Father in Heaven December 19, 2006. Lurene was born January 10, 1922 in Malad, Idaho but was raised in Magna and Salt Lake City, Utah where she graduated from West high School. She married Matthew Joseph Shoemake April 20, 1944 in Salt Lake City; later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived in San Francisco for a time before moving back to Salt Lake City.

Lurene had one child; Thomas Matthew Shoemake, born August 30, 1962. She was fortunate to stay at home and raise her son until her husband died in 1975.

During her life she worked at the Naval Arms Depot, the International Harvester Co., the Salt lake Ctiy School District lunch program and Maverick Country Stores. She loved her family and especially loved all children and dogs.

She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Primary organization for many years. She also loved to travel.

She is survived by her son, Thomas; brothers, Milton and Glen; along with many nephews and nieces. Preceded in death by her parents; Jeremiah and Alice Jones; sister, Emily and Vaudis; brother, Clifford; and nephews, Russell and Mathew.

Funeral services will be held at the Rose Park 6th Ward on Wednesday, December 27 at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Salt lake City Cemetery.
