Julia Shortridge

Julia Maria Sleight Shortridge, age 68, of Ontario, California died September 19th, at her home. She was born on October 29, 1923, in Paris, Idaho. She was a “retired” music teacher with the Ontario/ Montclair School District, and an Ontario resident for twenty-two years.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ontario 5th Ward, where she was very involved with church youth in music; she received her Master of Arts Degree in music from Cal State, Los Angeles; she was a member of the California Music Educators Association, the Music Educators National Conference, and very active in the San Bernardino Music Educators Association. She was made an Honorary Member of the PTA, and served as Director of the Ontario/Montclair School District Elementary Honor Band for over ten years.

She is survived by: one son, Laren R. Shortridge, of Salt Lake City, Utah; one daughter, Marilyn M. Jones, of Malad, Idaho; one brother, Ralph Sleight, of Paris, Idaho; eight grandchildren.

Services were held at 4:00 p.m, Wednesday, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4th St. & Campus Avenue, Ontario, California.

Graveside services will be held in Paris, Idaho on September 25, at the Paris City Cemetery.
