LUCILLE STEPHENS

MALAD — Lucille Stephens, 69, Malad, died Tuesday in the Oneida County Nursing Home.

She was born March 20, 1916, in St. John, to Daniel and Eva Sophia Hanson Stephens. She grew up and was educated in St. John and graduated from Malad High School.

She attended Utah State University where she received a degree in education. She had taught school in Victor, Utah, McCammon and Hanford, Calif. For several years, she taught English at Malad High School.

She later received an educational specialist’s degree in guidance counseling from Idaho State University. For 10 years, she had been guidance counselor at Malad high School.

She had been a member of the Idaho Education Association, and had worked to promote education in the Malad community.

She is survived by four nieces, Mrs. Randy (Lorrie) Kline, Mrs. Gary (Marilyn) Goy, Mrs. Gerd (Jennifer) Dixon and Carolyn Jones, all of Pocatello. She was preceded in death by two sisters.

Memorial services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Malad LDS Stake Chapel. Friends may call at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N.; Malad, Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday for one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
